Mandeville's Transmission Service
Your vehicle's exhaust system is responsible for far more than simply reducing engine noise. It performs several critical functions simultaneously — safely routing harmful combustion gases including carbon monoxide away from the passenger cabin managing exhaust backpressure to optimize engine performance and efficiency and reducing harmful emissions before they exit the tailpipe. The exhaust system operates under extreme conditions every time you drive with components cycling through enormous temperature ranges and constantly exposed to road moisture road salt and the corrosive effects of the combustion gases passing through them. Over time these conditions cause exhaust components to corrode crack and eventually fail — and when they do the effects range from an annoying exhaust noise to a genuine safety hazard that can allow colorless odorless and deadly carbon monoxide to enter the passenger cabin of your vehicle.

Reduced fuel economy without another obvious cause
-
Check engine light illuminated with oxygen sensor or catalytic converter related fault codes
-
Failed state emissions inspection
-
Exhaust smoke that appears thicker darker or differently colored than normal
An exhaust leak is never just a noise problem and should never be treated as one. Carbon monoxide entering the passenger cabin is completely odorless colorless and tasteless — you cannot detect it without a CO monitor and by the time symptoms appear the exposure has already occurred. If you suspect an exhaust leak or if your vehicle has developed any new exhaust related noise do not delay.
