Cooling System

Keeping your engine at the right temperature and protecting it from overheating damage in Mandeville Louisiana.

Mandeville's Cooling System

The cooling system is one of the most critical and most overlooked systems in your vehicle. Its entire job is to keep your engine operating at the precise temperature range it was designed for — not too hot and not too cold. When the cooling system fails even partially the consequences can be catastrophic. An overheating engine can warp cylinder heads blow head gaskets seize internal components and cause permanent irreversible damage that costs thousands of dollars to repair or makes the vehicle a total loss. In Louisiana where summer temperatures regularly push past 95 degrees and stop and go traffic is constant the cooling system is under more stress than in almost any other climate in the country.

At Zoom Tech Brett's team does not just check the coolant level and call it done. We inspect every component of the cooling system from the radiator and water pump to the thermostat hoses belts and cooling fan. We pressure test the entire system to find leaks that are not yet visible to the naked eye and we test thermostat function and water pump operation to make sure the system is circulating coolant correctly. If something needs attention we explain exactly what we found and why it matters before recommending any repair.

What We Include:

  • Coolant level and condition inspection including freeze point and ph testing

  • Full system pressure test to identify external and internal leaks

  • Radiator inspection flow test and replacement if needed

  • Thermostat function test and replacement

  • Water pump inspection and replacement

  • Cooling fan operation test including electric fan motors and fan clutches

  • Upper and lower radiator hose inspection and replacement

  • Heater hose inspection and replacement

  • Belt inspection and replacement for components related to the cooling system

  • Coolant flush drain and refill with correct coolant mixture for your vehicle

  • Heater core inspection and replacement

  • Overflow reservoir inspection and replacement

  • Complete written cooling system report provided to every customer

Warning Signs to Watch For

  • Temperature gauge climbing toward the hot end of the gauge or into the red

  • Steam or smoke rising from under the hood

  • Sweet syrupy smell coming from the engine bay or from vents inside the vehicle

  • Coolant puddle or wet spot visible under the vehicle after parking

  • Heater not producing warm air inside the cabin despite the engine being warm

  • Engine running noticeably hotter than normal even if not in the red

  • Coolant level dropping between fill-ups without a visible external leak

  • White smoke or steam coming from the exhaust pipe indicating coolant entering the combustion chamber

If your temperature gauge is rising while you are driving pull over safely and turn off the engine immediately. Do not continue driving an overheating engine even for a short distance. Driving an engine that is overheating even for just a few minutes can result in a blown head gasket seized engine or warped cylinder head — repairs that can cost more than the vehicle is worth.
